I am a local theater critic in Chicago. Many years ago, I found this candy at an office supply place and decided that it would be neat to bring something for the opening nights I attend for the PR people , the other critics and some friends of the theater. My wife thought this was wacky, but over the years, we have found that are seats are better, if we have a special request it is met and we are told that some of the critics, who might change their night of attending due to other commitments, knowing we will be there, stay with the original night. They do not want to miss their fruit gem. I do tell them, to open it before the play starts as it is well wrapped ( keeping them fresh) and often hard to open, but worth the work to do so. As one of the other critics said, it isn't an opening without Al and his fruit gems.
